As we learn more about the health benefits of cannabidiol (CBD), a lot of people are eager to try it. There are many ways to use CBD including vaping it, ingesting it, applying it topically, and taking it sublingually. Of all these methods, one of the easiest ways to use CBD is to ingest it. There are CBD-infused foods and beverages on the market. You could also add a few drops of CBD tincture to your food or beverage. One thing that puts people off from taking CBD is its taste. Some people have described the taste as “greeny” or “earthy.” But that doesn’t mean you should give up the health benefits of this compound. In this article, we’ll look at some of the ways you can mask the taste of CBD.
Mix CBD With a Food or Beverage
When you mix CBD with a food or beverage with a strong flavor, you don’t pick up its earthy taste anymore. I usually mix CBD with my coffee and smoothie. However, there is no limit to the types of beverages that you can mix CBD with. Some people mix it with cereals and even put a few drops in their salad.
Take Mints Right After
One of the easiest ways to avoid dealing with the earthy taste of CBD is to take mints right after you use it. Some people choose to put a mint under their tongue while they take the oil, however, this only works if you are ingesting it and not using it sublingually. If you are taking CBD sublingually, you are better off taking mints right after. Mints do an excellent job of masking the taste of CBD.
Put Some Honey on Your Tongue Right After
Just like mints, honey is effective at masking the taste of CBD. When you put a few drops of honey on your tongue right after taking CBD, all you taste is the sweet honey flavor. Another way to do this is to mix your CBD oil or tincture with honey and then ingest it.
Drink a Beverage Right After Taking it
Another equally good way to avoid dealing with the taste of CBD is to take a sip of a beverage right afterward to wash it down. Water may not do a very good job of hiding the taste of CBD. You are better off drinking a beverage with a strong flavor like a fruit juice or coffee.
Brush Your Teeth Before Taking it
A lot of people have found that brushing before taking CBD helps to hide the earthy taste of the compound. This is because toothpaste contains something called surfactants which masks your taste buds momentarily. You’ll usually only taste the minty flavor of your toothpaste right after using CBD. This is why it works to mask the taste of CBD.
These are just a few of the ways to mask the taste of CBD. There are many other equally effective methods including breathing through your nose rather than your mouth and taking yogurt right after. You could also opt for CBD isolate products. CBD isolate is tasteless unlike full spectrum and broad spectrum CBD products which have an earthy or greeny taste.
